Midtown Grille – Raleigh

Raleigh is really turning into a mecca of beautiful and unique food. For some, food just isn’t a meal that allows a person to finish the day with abundant energy – for some, food is an art.

When you walk into Midtown Grille, it becomes obvious that you are going to have an elevated food experience. The place is beautiful.

Midtown Grille has a happy hour {food only} on Monday – Saturday from 3:00 to 5:30 p.m. I also took advantage of the creative regular cocktail menu and ordered ONE drink that was absolutely amazing even though I decided not to have the honey syrup (I don’t need the sugar, right?!).

Taste

Truth be told, I was hungrier than what the “bar bite” menu had to offer so I ordered off the dinner menu. The food was beautiful and complex in taste. I couldn’t believe how amazing a zucchini noodles dish could taste. It was the best sausage I think I’ve ever had. If you’ve had this dish before, you may notice how different the sauce looks. I’ll get to that detail in a moment 🙂 (Yes, I am that person that takes pictures of beautiful food and drinks).

Customer Service

The bartender was very helpful in finding a drink that fit my food allergies (gluten and dairy). He also made great recommendations on the “bar bites” menu.

I decided to order off the dinner menu and I requested that I have no sauce due to it having cream as a base. The bartender put my order in. A few minutes later, he came back and said that the Chef was concerned that leaving out the sauce would effect the taste of the dish so he decided to make a custom sauce that was gluten and dairy free. I was completely WOWed and so grateful. Food is an art to the Chef. That became obvious when I saw the plating and tasted the amazing sauce (+food).

I would say that the customer service received an A+.

Price

Midtown Grille is a nice place. It’s not cheap, but you don’t go to a place like this and not expect to pay above normal. There is real effort there in the experience, food preparation, customer service and food quality.

Nutrition

Here is the exciting part. I was told by the bartender that the fryer in the kitchen is gluten free. They are able to accommodate food allergies, but cannot guarantee that no cross-contamination will happen.

The ingredients are high-quality and it is obvious in the taste of the food.

{The cocktail and entree above are gluten-free and dairy-free}

My experience was definitely worth writing about. If you and/or your significant other enjoy having an elegant food experience, but you struggle with food allergies, I highly recommend that you investigate this spot that is local to Raleigh in the North Hills community.
